If you've been so lucky to receive pets before this update, gather them up because it's time for them to get to work!

Pets update

  • Skilling pets:
    • Pets can now be levelled up. They share the same experience table as characters do
    • Level up pets by sending them off to do tasks for you. Pets use the same tasks that are available to players, but the little fellas will take 4 times longer to complete tasks and do not use any unlocks you've made on your character such as upgrades. A slight difference is that pet tasks will never consume any gold, so Carpentry tasks for example won't cost you anything.
    • You can only have a single pet to do a task for you at any given time
    • When a pet completes their task, the produced item will be sent to your inventory. The pet will gain some experience and continue running the task just like your character would
    • You will receive the experience your pet earns
    • When completing tasks that have ingredient costs, pets will take the required items from your inventory
      • Note: pets will skip the gold requirement if tasks have them (currently only Carpentry)
    • Pets will keep working when offline, just like your character does. Note: your character's offline progress if processed first, so if you both you and your pet are doing the same task whilst offline and you end up running out of resources, the pet might not end up producing anything
    • As Agility and Enchanting tasks behave a bit differently from the others, so do the corresponding pets
      • The Agility pet has a chance of finding you chests when completing tasks. The rate it finds them at is twice as high as normal. Other pets cannot find chests while skilling
      • The Enchanting pet completes common, rare and exceptional tasks and earns itself and you experience without needing any scrolls. Not a lot of it, but hey, it's free!
    • While the rates might seem small at first, keep in mind that the activities the pets perform are completely separate from the player and everything you gain is just extra on top of whatever you're doing with your character. Introducing pets without them using existing modifiers will also allow us to more easily develop new content around pets.
  • Combat (Melee, Archery, Magic) pets:
    • Received from daily & weekly combat quests at a higher chance than skilling pets. When completing combat quests, you'll receive one of these pets randomly. You won't receive duplicates until you've collected them all
    • Combat pets behave very differently from skilling pets. They can not be sent off to do tasks for you, but rather you equip them to get the bonuses that they provide
    • Combat pets receive a part of the experience you gain in combat when they're equipped. When certain experience thresholds are passed, you can upgrade your pet to the next tier and it'll provide higher bonuses
    • Upgrading combat pets requires them to reach certain levels and costs gemstones and the costs from each tier carry over to the next one. For example, to upgrade to tier 2, you'll need 3 refined gemstones. Tier 3 takes 3 refined and great gemstones. Tier 4 takes 3 refined, great and elite gemstones, and so on
  • Pets have their own leaderboards
  • Manage your pets from the inventory tab

Quest update

  • Weekly quests have been added
    • Weekly quests consist of new some new quests that can take a while to complete, like finding gemstones from combat, and the same skilling quests seen in daily quests but with bigger numbers
    • 4 weekly quests available by default, up to 6 with the quester rank
    • Weekly quests have separate rerolls from dailies: 6 default, up to 12 with the quester rank
    • Weekly quests can be auto-completed but daily quests are always prioritized
  • New types of quests have been added
    • Receive a specific item as a drop from combat (the loot credit has to go to you)
    • Kill an enemy X amount of times (you don't have to receive the kill credit in group combat)
    • Kill an enemy in a single hit (only given as dailies). These expect you to utilize the potion of dark magic (though not strictly required) so low level ones aren't assigned to ironmen
      • Note: combat quests cannot be auto completed and will be skipped when auto completing
  • Previously, you wouldn't be able to get more than 1 quest for a given skill - this has now been modified so that you're able to reroll more quests for the same skill if previous quest(s) with that skill have already been completed. This doesn't apply to Enchanting quests

Daily boosts

  • Ads have been removed from the game. Non-premium members on Steam can now claim daily boosts and mobile players aren't shown ads at all. You still need premium to bypass the cooldown and stack your daily boosts. This was done for a couple of reasons:
    • Telling non-premium PC players to either play on mobile or pay up to access a feature in the game was pretty awkward and not a good experience for new users
    • Displaying ads on top of the game client is fairly complicated and issues often pop up in frameworks that power them. These can cause a variety of problems such as crashes, which negatively affect how the game is being shown on stores and can result in less potential players finding out about our game
    • The revenue received from ads wasn't significant enough to justify their existence
  • Additionally, claiming your daily boost will now credit you with all available boosts if you have premium

Bug fixes and smaller changes

  • Login issues that have occasionally impacted a small amount of users recently are hopefully fixed. Will continue to monitor the systems and make further adjustements if needed.
  • Equipment UI in the inventory tab has been overhauled! Hopefully it's more pleasant to look at now and easier to make sense of for new players
  • Hottest items in player market can now be pressed to view them in the offer search page
  • The generic message popup's ok button now scales on hover like most buttons do
  • The item displayed when sending items to another player is now formatted
  • Renamed Lil' magician to Lil' wizard
  • Inventory gold is now displayed as the full number rather than KMB formatted
  • Fixed a few Clan standings skills having wrong icons
  • Updated the "You need all pages from the Valley of Gods to combine them into a scroll." message to "You need all pages from the Valley of Gods to combine them into a book."
  • Moved the pet equipment slot in combat a little bit and made item hovers appear at a static position instead of it popping up next to the hovered item
  • Removed extra ' from the "You opened {0} {1}s and received the following items" chest opening message
  • The "You're about to sell x" text now uses delimiters
  • When creating a sell offer for a premium token and cancelling it, an untradeable token would be added to your inventory client side (visual bug)
  • To prevent unwanted tasks from starting, the quest action (auto complete etc) you selected is now completely cleared when logging out of the game and won't be remembered on your next sessionThe quest action selection popup where you select if you want quests to be auto completed etc. is now more descriptive
  • You'll no longer receive the "Are you sure you want to leave this view? You'll lose any uncollected rewards." confirmation popup when being invited to group activities whilst having the event popup open. You used to claim the items manually once an event ended but that's now automatic so the confirmation is redundant
  • Fixed the "Level requirement not met" text being displayed on quests without level requirements if you had previously selected a quest that you didn't have the level for
  • Fixed names with "idle" in them being replaced with the name of the task they're doing in raids
  • Fixed the "started task" notification displaying the name of the quest you most recently viewed rather than the task that was actually started when auto completing quests
  • Art updates
    • Clan events have a new background image to be more in line with the rest of the game's backgrounds
    • All shields have been updated
    • All leather coats and trousers have been updated
    • All magical robes and trousers have been updated
    • Astronomical & Titanium platelegs have been updated
